UDBHAAS Child Development Clinic is an unit of NANRITAM which provide diagnosis, assessment and interventional services to children with physical, mental or language development, learning and behavioural problems through holistic and customized approach.
The centre aims at early screening and evaluation of children with developmental disability or one at risk of it. Early Intervention can help these children with disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, Autism, ADHD, Learning disabilities, Speech & Hearing problems, etc to overcome their disability and get integrated in society and live a normal life to every extent.
1. Development clinic:
The child is screened, assessed and evaluated for appropriate development using various development tools and an Individualised programme is prepared by a team of experts. The programme is intended to improve cognitive, social, communication and emotional skills of young infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities or at risk of it.
2. Early Intervention Programme:
This program provides services to infants and toddlers from birth to 6 years of age who have developmental delays or are at risk for such delays and preventing developmental risk at later stages. The team of experts like physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc work together in structured, integrated programme.
3. Special Education Support Programme:
Special education provided to children with Mental Retardation, Autism, Learning Disability, ADHD, ADD, Down’s Syndrome, etc involves teaching methods like PEPS, TEACHH, etc. It helps children improve their activities of daily living, communication, academics, self help activities, attention, co-ordination, concentration, etc. The aim of special education is to mainstream these children in regular schools. Parents are also included in this process.
4. Counseling & Advocacy:
Parents are engaged in the sessions taking place at the centre so that they can understand and learn so as to support the child. This helps them sensitize about the fact and cope up with the situation.
5. Community Based Rehabilitation:
It involves providing services children with developmental disabilities belonging to the underprivileged and economically weaker section of society. The children are screened and assessed and challenged children are picked up who are then provided with necessary services by trained caregivers of their community.
Regular Training and Awareness programmes are organised by the centre for various professional groups, parents, teachers, caregivers, etc.
