Sol’s ARC (Assessment and Remedial Centre) autism support in mumbai is a registered charitable trust which runs therapy centres and parallel schools to provide all round services to children with mental disability and helps prepare them for different situations in life. Their revolutionary work in the field of special education helps parents and children to achieve their best and an opportunity to reach their fullest potential. The centre is dedicated to providing opportunities to maximize each child’s highest potential while promoting respect and acceptance of human diversity, sensitivity to child and family needs, and inclusion in a nurturing, community-supported environment.
1. Parallel School:
The parallel school at Sol’s Arc aims at integrating special children into mainstream society by following SSC & ICSE syllabus as its curriculum, training children on Activities of Daily Life and other skills, relevant field visit to schools, etc. The school also offers National Open School curriculum as an optional programme. The students at Sol’s Arc are taught through innovative pedagogy using powerpoint presentation, videos, flash cards, etc. They are also taught vocational subjects like milk and milk products, physiology hygiene, ornamental gardening, typing, etc.
2. Pathways Vocational Training Programme:
Certified Courses in the field of Computer technology, Business Management, Office Management, Catering, etc are offered to special children based on their choice according to their abilities, skill and interests. Job Guidance, workplace training and in-house placement programmes are provided to these children by Pathways in collaboration with local employers.
3. Higher Education Programme:
Sol’s Arc in collaboration with Rotary Community College will be starting higher education for special children in the year 2015. They provide Commerce and Arts graduation programme. The teaching of the regular syllabi will take place in a novel way with the help of technology.
4. Assessment and Remedial Centre:
The exact level of a child’s development vis a vis his/her age is arrived at Sol’s Arc Assessment and Remedial Centre. The assessment and evaluation are done on IQ, special condition, educational evaluation, sensory and occupational evaluation, etc. The following therapies are offered to special children based on their need and assessment
Three projects namely UDAY, PACE and PILOT has been launched to cater to the needs of special children belonging to lower economic section and to help them integrate in mainstream of society.
