Started in 1999, Pradip Centre for Autism Management plays an important role in promoting lifelong opportunities for persons with autism treatment in West Bengal and their parents, and is fully involved in awareness, education and research related to autism.
Children at the centre are assessed in details at the time of admission and rated individually on cognition, communication, motor, self help, behavioural skills. The deficit skills are taken as target and worked on. Progress of the child is regularly discussed with parents and re-assessment is done once in every 3 months.
Teaching methods like TEACHH, Lovaas technique, ARTS, MISC, Music & Play Therapy are used by the school to train & educate children at the school. Parents are also included in individualised planning for their ward at the school. They are also briefed and empowered in sessions about the programme followed at the school. The school, mothers, special educators, and the rehab psychologists take care of the Individual Rehabilitation Programme, its implementation and evaluation.
The organisation also offers one year diploma courses for caregivers in special education approved by Rehabilitation Council Of India. Pre-vocational wing was also started by the centre to train students in various vocations.
