Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan (MBCN), Noida is a special school providing cost free education and rehabilitation to physical and mentally challenged children. It was started by Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan Trust as a private rehabilitation centre for children with mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and multiple disability.
1. Early Intervention:
This service is provided to children with development delay, or at risk of developing one or to prevent further disorder in the age range of 3-6years where focus is given on improvement of cognitive, social, emotional outcomes. Parents come with their child regularly to the centre and learn the methods and trainings provided to their child so that it can be continued at home.
2. Special Education:
The child is assessed at the centre and an Individual Education Plan is designed which is reviewed and changes are made every month based on the child’s development or requirement. The school imparts training and special education to improve activities of daily life in class room and community based set up and thus generalising it. The focus of this program is to teach academic, communication , social, functional and pre-vocational skills.
The child is assessed by a team of interdisciplinary professionals before admitting in the school using various scales physically and mentally. The child is observed on individual skills like behavioural, social, communication, sensory, etc.
Counseling is provided to parents to help them understand and cope with the real situation of their child emotionally and socially. Regular counseling also helps them understand the child’s developmental stages.
Speech therapy, Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy are offered to improve speech & language ability, sensory & motor skills and physical skills for overall development of children with disabilities.
6. Vocational Training:
Vocational skills in paper bag making , candle making, envelope making, files and folders making, etc are taught with a sense to integrate them in the society and make them economically independent.Other services include providing children with special needs medical and transportation facilities. The centre also conducts regular workshops for parent training and guidance and special courses in special education for teachers and care givers.
