Anchal Charitable Trust (ACT) is a non profit, non-political organisation delivering a package of services to people belonging to economically weaker section and the differently abled. It was established by a team of like minded professionals from various backgrounds and areas of specialization like education, community health, environmentalist, medicine, special school, etc.
Anchal Research and Rehabilitation Centre provides an encouraging learning environment and an effort to mainstream children with special needs through regular school or NIOS curriculum. These facilities are provided by qualified professionals trained in the area of disability.
1. Medical care:
The child is assessed and future course of medication is decided based on the assessment. It also helps care takers, special educators and transporters in case of medical emergency.
2. IQ Assessment:
This test is conducted to determine the severity of retardation i.e, mild, moderate or severe. An IEP(Individual Education Plan) is prepared based on the assessment for planning development of the child. This IEP is also discusses with their parents through counselling.
3. Special Education:
Special education is provided based on the level of mental retardation which helps them to acquire human behaviour and basic academic growth. It also covers activities of daily life like bathing, eating, brushing, sense of clothing, concept of money, and other social skills.
Limitations in growth and movement of normal body due to disorders in special children prevents them in interacting in the social world independently, hence occupational, physiotherapy and speech therapy is provided to help overall development of the child.
It helps parents and children to accept and cope up with situation and plan for future. Guidance and counseling helps parents to raise awareness level in regard to challenges faced by the child.
6. Vocational training:
Vocational Training are integral part of education provided to children with special needs which helps to improve their capability and functioning skills.This helps to make them independent and and self supporting in their own right and achieving a level of productivity that enhances their dignity and self esteem. Vocational skills provided at the centre includes paper bag making, beauty products, handlooms and candle making.Other activities involves behaviour modification, recreation and provision of teaching aids and training support equipment.
