Ahead is school cum vocational training centre started to serve people with disability by imparting them education, training and capacity building skills. The school aims at integrating special children and their parents in the community with potential to withstand in it.
1. Special Education:
Education provided at school is child centric and designed based on individual’s need and interest. Children with learning disability, behavioural, emotional and developmental delays are provided with other recreational activities apart from structured educational curriculum. Children with Autism and other multiple disability are trained in functional skills enabling them to meet their daily living activities and making them as independent as possible.
2. Assessment and Early Intervention:
Child in the age group of 0-5 years are assessed for cognitive, physical, emotional and functional abilities and further course of action i’e, medication, therapies and education are decided. Early intervention plays an important role in child’s overall development and prevents further developmental delays. Parents along with their wards are offered counseling, training and guidance to best adjust and help their wards.
For overall development of children with disabilities professionals like speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists work to improve communication & language skills, sensory skills and mobility & functional skills respectively.
4. Pre-vocational training unit:
Ahead provides vocational training to
disabled individuals of all ages to prepare them to be vocationally ready as per their ability and interest. Training is provided to these individuals in vocations like painting earthen pots, candle making, decorative items, grinding spices, packaging and weighing, etc.
